■Wrap up the week of Boscawen Old Home Day events at Twiggs Gallery, today. A poetry slam by the Percheron Poets will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be an open mic for anyone who would like to participate.

■Tuesday is the town’s deadline for your donations of non-perishable items for the Back Pack Program, such as boxes of cereal, snacks, juice boxes, and fruit cups. Please drop off by Tuesday at the town offices, police station, Franklin Savings Bank, or Elektrisola.
■Boscawen Elementary School Annual Welcome Back BBQ Open House, is on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m. Kindergarten orientation takes place on the same day as well, and begins at 4:15 p.m. promptly.
■Music in the Park returns on Sept. 11 with Badger’s Drifting, featuring duo Scott Miles and Johnny Law, taking the stage at 4 p.m. Both are songwriters, singers and guitarists who play original repertoire of Americana and alt-country songs. Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Food goes on sale at 4 p.m. and is available for the entire event. Starting in October, the music event returns to the first Friday of the month at 7 p.m.
■Are you interested in the history of Boscawen and the surrounding towns? The Boscawen Historical Society is open every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. until October.

■The Canterbury Farmers Market is every Wednesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m., from June to September, with a mix of locally grown and produced vegetables, meats, prepared foods, and other value-added agricultural products and selected crafts. We also have talented musicians for lively entertainment each week. In preparation for the holiday season, we host two winter markets in November and December at the Canterbury Elementary School. The market works with the Loudon Food Pantry assisting local families with access to fresh produce and meats. The market takes place next to the Elkins Public Library.
■The first Jake Deware Kindness Project Golf Tournament and silent auction, presented by Rowell’s Services, will be held on Oct. 2 at Canterbury Woods Country Club. The proceeds will go towards the Jake Deware Kindness Project. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., shotgun starts at 10 a.m.
■The Shaker Regional School District is seeking three members from Belmont and three members from Canterbury to serve on the Advisory Budget Committee. The board will select members at its Sept. 14 board meeting. All members must be registered voters for the town in which they are serving. ■Flag football on Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Ball Field, all are welcome to play. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new bleachers and playground with the annual fireworks to follow at dusk.
■·Summer weekly cribbage every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., please arrive by 6:15 p.m. at the town hall. All are welcome no matter what town you are from, ages 13 and up are welcome. Summer cribbage will be every Thursday, unless the temperature at 3 p.m. is 90 degrees or higher, in which case the games that night will be canceled. No refreshments will be offered or solicited. ■The Friends of Forgotten Children food pantry serves 23 towns in Merrimack County, and Salisbury is one of them. They are open on Thursdays, 9 to 11:15 a.m. (closed for lunch 11:15 a.m. to noon), and noon to 7 p.m. A household can come once a month for food. First time clients should bring proof of residency for each member of the household. During COVID, we are not verifying income eligibility. Clients can’t come into the building, so once you arrive at the location, call (603) 753-4801 and someone will take your information and the food will be brought outside. They also have a clothing pantry and on good weather days, they will put the clothing outside for anyone to take. ■The town clerk is now open to the public for indoor in-person service. Masks are recommended for all those not fully vaccinated and please continue to observe social distancing. Be sure to bring your driver’s license, the clerk is required to see it for all motor vehicle transactions. Vehicle and dog renewals may still be completed online. Vehicle renewal registration information was mailed to those who need to renew in September, please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you. This only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or vehicles of new residents. See the town’s website under the department of the town clerk for that information.
■The library is now open to the public. Please see their website for updated information. Open hours are as follows: Mondays (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Tuesday and Thrusdays (1 to 7 p.m.), and Saturday (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Printing, scanning and faxing services are still available. For Heritage Quest, please contact the library for login info. New Hampshire State Park passes are in. Pickup and delivery may not be available during story time or trustee meetings due to staffing. ■The Solar Project Subcommittee will meet on Au. 31 at 7 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda is the same as July, as there was not a quorum for that meeting.
■Mid-State Transit provides transportation for seniors who are 60 and older, and adults with disabilities in Belknap and Merrimack Counties. Door to door service is available in Webster on Wednesday. Webster is in Zone 4 with buses going to Concord, Lebanon, and Warner. To schedule a ride, call before 2:30 p.m. the day beforehand. The suggested donation for a round trip is $3.
