■Allenstown Town Hall will be closed Monday in honor of Labor Day.

■St. John the Baptist Monthly Market will be held on Sat. from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the parish hall.

■The Suncook Senior Center will be closed on Monday to honor Labor Day.

■Bone Builders is held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday; Bingo is held from 10:30 to 12:15 p.m. on Monday and Thursday; Cribbage is held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday; Gentle Chair Yoga with Georgette is held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday; Tops Group is held from 11 to 12 p.m. on Wednesday; Coffee Hour is held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday; Klunk is held on Thursday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

■A big thank you goes out to Emelia V. and Ava C. for the newly renovated town hall gazebo. Ava and Emelia are members of the Girl Scout Troop 2060, and the completed project to renovate the structure earned them the Girl Scouts Silver Award. Great job.

CHICHESTERRun for the pups

■The Chichester Police Dept has a drop box at the police station for drugs as well as kits that can be taken home and prescriptions drugs mixed with the bag that neutralizes the drug and they can be disposed of in the trash. Contact the PD if you have any questions.

■The Darbster Doggy Foundation of Chichester is having their annual 5K fundraiser at Rollins Park in Concord on Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. This rescue focuses on receiving cats and dogs from overcrowded shelters to find them their forever home.

■Grateful Sleds will be sponsoring a Bacon Bash on Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. The theme is “Bacon Makes Everything Better.”

■BCEP Solid Waste District will be closed Monday and Tuesday. The district will still be open on Thursday until 6 p.m.

■The Pembroke Academy football team is selling discount cards to various restaurants. The proceeds will help the team during the football season.

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. for a regularly scheduled meeting.

■The Parks and Rec will be meeting at Carpenter Park on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed.

■The Chichester PTO will be having their annual back-to-school BBQ on Wednesday. This event is fun and well attended by students, parents and friends.

■SAU 53 will be having an executive board meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Pembroke Academy.

■The Chichester PTO has been working hard on its fall fundraiser for the new school year. Starting this month they will be selling an October calendar with daily raffle drawings. Calendars are $10 each and each purchase enters you into daily raffles. Proceeds go to the PTO to support the school, the staff, and students in various ways. Twenty-plus businesses and individuals have donated to make this raffle possible.

■In observance of Labor Day, town offices will be closed on Monday.

■Soccer games are starting. The Chichester Youth Association and the school athletic department have 20 soccer games scheduled between them this fall. The Youth Association has a game on Sept. 9 at 5:30 at Carpenter Park with Pittsfield as the visiting team. The School team has a game on Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. with Allenstown the visiting team.

■ Congratulations to Brooke Davison who will be playing goalkeeper for the Pembroke Academy Soccer Team. Brooke was a valued member of the Chichester Central School soccer team and will be showing her abilities with the Spartans.

■Children’s Storytime is held Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Children and their caregivers listen to stories, sing songs, and enjoy crafts. September themes include sunflowers, apples, insects and fall weather. All ages are welcome.

■Movie Matinees will continue at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons for the following movies, with light refreshments provided. On Sept. 8, watch “The Father.”

■Fall mums will be delivered Sept. 8 for anyone that ordered. We will have a few on hand for those that wish to purchase some on a first come first serve basis. We extend a huge thank you to all that support the library with their mums purchases! We cannot wait to see them beautifying Epsom!

■Interested in playing or learning to play mahjong? On Tuesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. come join us in the library meeting room. The group meets weekly.

■Pittsfield Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s Office closed Wednesday through Friday for staff training.

■On Tuesday at the First Congregational Church of Pittsfieldthe Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Each family is eligible to come for the supplemental diapers once per opening (twice a month). Each family receives one set of diapers/product per child in need, and one package of wipes per family. We generally have newborn through size 6 diapers, along with pull-ups and overnights. We use the parking lot off Chestnut Street. We will also be accepting donations of diapers and wipes, including open packages. Please call 435-7471 if you have any questions. ■A school district public hearing will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Pittsfield Middle High School, to discuss a proposed warrant article to expend $352,505 of unanticipated adequacy funds. ■Pittsfield celebrates Homecoming on Sept. 17 at Dustin Park. Pittsfield community organizations, businesses, the school district and town departments have gathered together to present a community fair to be held during the homecoming parade. Come to Dustin Park to learn about businesses and organizations, play games, admire police cruisers and fire trucks, and enjoy free pizza and hot dogs. COVID vaccines will be available. Some items will be for sale, but all activities and food will be free. The end of the homecoming parade will be near the park so that students can easily attend. Community fair activities will he held from 5 to 7 p.m., then as soon as it is dark the Suncook Valley Rotary Club will present an outdoor showing (with popcorn) of the Emperor’s New Groove.

■On Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m., join for live music with Bill Parker at The Pittsfield Senior Center. Parker sings a wide variety of music from the Great American songbook while playing the keyboard and harmonica. Come, enjoy the free concert, and stay for lunch. The meal is spaghetti, with a meat sauce, a salad and garlic bread. Dessert will be a brownie ala mode. Please call 435-8482 to RSVP by Tues, Sept 14, so the meal can be planned accordingly.

■The Pittsfield Senior Center is hosting community dining on Mondays and Thursdays at noon. We are asking people that are planning on eating here to please sign up by Monday, the week before, so meals can be planned accordingly. Pick up a menu, circle what you would like and give it to Carol. Pick up is between 11 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursdays, but another more convenient time can be arranged. You can also eat lunch at the center and take a frozen meal home for later. Please call the Center at 435-8482 to make reservations for the activities. Space is limited. Masks are still required and you’ll be asked to complete a signed waiver.

■Volunteers are needed at the Pittsfield Senior Center! We will need volunteers for different days of the week, at different times, depending on the task being done. Training is provided, if interested please call 435-8482. The work is easy and gratifying and only takes one to two hours a week. Since we are reopening there are going to be changes but I believe that we can make those changes together and make the center even better! Some of the volunteer positions needed: Reading out loud to visually impaired, Checking people in the center, Art and Crafts Associate, Help in the kitchen, Computer assistance and Managing different games.

■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for a new museum and headquarters. A commemorative garden on the museum grounds is being worked on. A “buy-a-brick” project affords an opportunity for people to buy a brick to honor yourself, loved ones, or whomever you wish to remember. The bricks will be sold for $100 each and may be engraved with three lines of 18 characters each for a 4-inch by 8-inch brick. Visit pittsfieldhistory.com for a donation form and instructions.
