The city of Concord has approved plans for a Bow-based commercial fryer manufacturer to build a 356,000 square foot facility off of Manchester Street.
Construction is slated to begin in 2022 on the new Pitco location, which received major site plan approval from the planning board in September.
The new plant at 15 Integra Drive will combine Pitco’s three existing locations in Bow, Concord and Pembroke into one complex with offices, manufacturing and warehouse space. About 400 jobs will be based at the facility, which is close to the Soucook River and near the border with Pembroke.
Pitco also plans to install a solar array on the roof of the building, according to documents submitted to the planning board. Shift times of 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. will mitigate traffic impact by avoiding peak commuting times, according to the traffic study.
Pitco is advertising entry level assembler jobs starting at $17.50 with a signing bonus. In 2020, the CEO of Pitco’s parent company The Middleby Corp., Timothy FitzGerald, received $5.3 million in compensation.
Concord officials praised the move.
“They’ve always been a wonderful employer and it’s great for Concord and for keeping jobs in the local economy,” Mayor Jim Bouley said.
Bouley said this building will represent the largest new building and tax base growth since the Steeplegate Mall. Deputy City Manager Carlos Baia said the city does not yet have a firm estimate on how much tax revenue the facility will generate.
“It’s beyond cool,” Bouley said. “This is cool on steroids.”
Pitco Vice President & General Manager Karl Searl said this new facility will allow the company to ramp up its growth and develop its workforce.
“Keeping our business based in the state, specifically, Concord, is important to us to maintain our culture of quality workmanship and customer-centric values,” Searl said.
