Third-grade student Andrew Arnold’s love for the Center Woods Elementary School garden grew right along with the potatoes he helped plant. Nearly 40 pounds of potatoes were harvested from the garden this fall, and Andrew did a lot of the potato digging himself. He then took a few potatoes to Assistant Principal Jacquelyn Cornwell, and together they brainstormed what to do with the abundant crop. Andrew then worked with various Center Woods Elementary staff members to plan, cook, and present delicious baked potato wedges to all 3rd-grade students. “This is just one example of the real-world application of skills we strive to provide our students,” commented Assistant Principal Cornwell about the project.
