Heavy rain contributed to a two-vehicle crash that shut down Interstate 93 in Concord for a period of time Friday, state police said.
At 11:15 a.m., 19-year-old Casey Shuman of Epsom was driving north near Exit 14 when she attempted to move into the left-hand lane to pass a truck pulling a camper. Due to the heavy rain, Shuman started to hydroplane and went back into the right lane, colliding with the camper being towed by Robert and Wendy Berry, of Easton, Massachusetts, state police said.
The camper rolled over across both northbound lanes of I-93, blocking traffic. State police decided to shut down the northbound lanes of the highway to investigate and safely clear the crash. All three individuals were transported to the Concord Hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries, police said.
Traffic was re-routed onto the Exit 14 ramp in order to avoid the debris in the roadway and later one lane was reopened to traffic. About three hours after the crash all northbound lanes were reopened, safety officials reported.
