Last week, high school athletes across the country took part in national signing day, inking verbal commitments to continue their careers from high school to college.

The Concord area saw two athletes participate as Elizabeth Blinn of Concord and Ashlee Brehio of Hopkinton both signed their national letters of intent.

Blinn will play volleyball at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts. She was a standout during her four years on the Crimson Tide. Blinn rotated various positions during her senior year for Concord, but she captained the Crimson Tide to a 11-7 regular season record. As the tenth seed in the tournament, Concord upset Portsmouth in the first round but lost to Hollis-Brookline in the second round.

Blinn’s future team currently sits at 14-11 and currently sit at sixth in the Northeast-10 conference standings. The Falcons play Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday in the NE-10 quarterfinals.

As for Brehio, she will be taking her talents to Elon University in North Carolina, as a member of the women’s soccer team. Brehio finished her career with Hopkinton as an undefeated state champion behind its 2-1 win over St. Thomas. In her senior season, Brehio scored nearly 50 goals and had several hat tricks during the season. She also played for Seacoast United the last four years.
