■Great news, the Allenstown Ice Skating Rink is just about ready to open. This project is the result of a collaboration of the Town Administrator, Highway Department and the Economic Committee. The rink is located on the field between Town Hall and ARD School. The hours will be Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., holidays and weekends will be from noon to 9 p.m. For more information go to allenstownnh.gov.

■The monthly market at St. John the Baptist will be held on Jan.15 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on Jan.16 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. These items are at no cost.

■The Knights of Columbus will hold a Church Supper on Jan. 22 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall. The meal is lasagna and the cost is $8, take out only.

■The Suncook Senior Center activities include: Bone Builders (9 to 10 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday), Bingo from (10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Monday and Thursday), Cribbage Club (10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday), Gentle Chair Yoga (1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday), Tops Group (11 a.m. to noon), and Klunk from (12:30 to 2 p.m. on Thursday).

■The school is offering counseling for the spring semester. Melissa Arnest, a graduate student of counseling at Plymouth State will be available Monday and Tuesday through the end of May.

■Officer Stacey Fiske from the Merrimack County Sheriff Department will be back in the school to present DARE to the 6th grade. Many activities are being planned.

■The Granite State 90 day Winter Challenge is available at the school.

■The Chichester Library received $5,351 from the Institute of Music and Library Services. The funds were allocated with the American Rescue Plan by Congress. The grant will be used for Sprouts backpacks which will contain educational material, Playaway tables for children, a flat-screen TV for library programs, Bluetooth stereo, and air filters with air quality monitors.

■The Chichester Conservation Commission and volunteers have developed great trails for winter use at Shaw’s Pasture on Main Street. People are enjoying cross country skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking. Parking is available with guided signs.

■The Chichester Central School Ram Record News meeting has changed to Mondays from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. at the school.

■The Chichester Supervisors of the Checklist will be meeting on Jan. 18 at the Grange Hall from 7 to 7:30 p.m. to register voters and make corrections, additions and deletions of the voter checklist. Residents removed who had not voted since April 1, 2017 who wish to register should bring required documents. Applicants, please bring a photo ID, proof of Chichester residency and proof of U.S. citizenship. Applicants who do not bring proof with them may register if they sign an affidavit attesting to their qualifications. The updated voter checklist will be posted in the town hall as well as the library. Due to the Covid surge please wear masks.

EPSOM ‘Respect’ at library

■The Town Clerk and Selectmen’s Office closed on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. /Civil Rights Day.

■The first day to file a declaration of candidacy with the Town Clerk is Jan. 19 (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and the last day is Jan. 28 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The Town Clerk’s Office will be open additional hours during Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Office will not be open for vehicle registrations or property tax payments during these additional hours. ■Ice Fishing on Wild Goose Pond at Graylag Nature Preserve on Jan. 22, meet at the firepit! This program will provide an introduction to ice fishing, including tip ups and other ice fishing equipment, ice safety, fish identification, and rules and regulations.Led by Stu Stinchfield, a longtime friend of Graylag and the stonemason responsible for much of our land art, this will be an in-person, socially-distant event. ■The town of Pittsfield’s Winter Parking Ban on town roads is effective now through April 15. This ban prohibits parking in or on the town’s roads or right of way between the hours of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

■The Town offices and Schools will be closed on Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr./ Civil Rights Day.
