The Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Meredith announces auditions for young actors ages 8 to 18 for their professional summer production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! This is a unique opportunity for local students who are interested in theater, music, and dance to participate in a professional production at the award-winning Playhouse in Meredith. Performances will be from Aug. 18 through Sept. 3, and auditions will take place on Feb. 5 and 6.
Based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, the musical is widely considered a masterpiece and includes favorite songs like “Consider Yourself,” “As Long as He Needs Me,” and “Food, Glorious Food.” Students who attend these auditions will be considered for the roles of Oliver Twist, The Artful Dodger, Bet, Charlotte Sowerberry, Charley Bates, Noah Claypole and the Ensemble.
Those who are cast will also have the opportunity to participate in Oliver! Boot Camp, an intensive week of instruction just for the student company. It will provide exclusive training in music and dance taught by industry professionals, as well as an opportunity to get a jump on learning vocals and choreography for the production. All students cast in the production are expected to participate.
