Boys’ Basketball

Bow 70, Kingswood 45

Key players: Bow  – Owen Petretta (25 points, 15 rebounds), Lincoln Routhier (16 points), Hunter Duncan (13 points), Alex Boisvert (6 points, 8 assists), Myles Reinhardt (10 rebounds)

Highlights:The Falcons used a complete-team effort to finished the regular season with a decisive victory and will be the No. 11 or No. 12 seed for the upcoming Division II tournament.

Pembroke 76, Sanborn 64

Key players: Pembroke –  Mike Pitman (18 points, 10 rebounds), Mike Strazzeri (12 points), Alex Francoeur (12 points, 5 assists, 3 steals), Joe Fitzgerald (11 points); Sanborn – Jason Allen (18 points)

Highlights: The Spartans led 27-22 after one and 39-30 at halftime. Pembroke led by as many as 24 points to close the regular season with a victory and locking up a top six seed for the Division II tournament.

Coach’s quote: “Great game for the boys winning their fourth straight game in a week. It was also a redemption game after losing to Sanborn earlier in the year. Was able to get everyone some minutes in this one, including freshman Evan Berkeley who scored his first varsity bucket. I told the six seniors before this one got started that it was their last ever regular season high school game and to make it memorable. They did. Tournament starts Tuesday at home. Belmont 47, White Mountains 44

Highlights: The Raiders picked up a huge victory on Saturday over the Spartans, one of the top teams in Division III. Belmont had won four in a row.

Hopkinton 42, Conant 28

Key players: Hopkinton – Brendan Elrick (15 points), Quinn Whitehead (11 points), Abram Standefer (6 points), Jack Morrall (4 points, defense)

Highlights: The Hawks went out to a 15-4 first-quarter lead and also held an 11-point lead going into halftime. Hopkinton’s size was too much for Conant, and the Orioles only scored two field goals in the second half, but stayed in the game thanks to strong free throw shooting (11-for-16).

Coach’s quote: “I was proud of how well we played on defense tonight. Our rotational help was much better and they worked as one on the floor. Our guards are seeing the floor well and making the right passes which helped break pressure. It was nice to see us use our size to our advantage as well.” – Hopkinton’s Stephen Signor

Franklin 53, Pittsburg-Canaan 52

Highlights: The Tornadoes snapped a two-game losing streak with a last-second bucket to top the Panthers.

Girls’ Basketball

John Stark 61, Coe Brown 40

Key players: John Stark – Eleanor Girardet (28 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals), Abigail Duclos (15 points, 4 steals), Izabel Korbet (10 points, 4 steals, 4 assists), Meg Mefford (8 points, 7 assists); Coe-Brown – Kalina Kasprzak (10 points)

Highlights: John Stark was able to apply defensive pressure and created multiple turnovers which led to some nice transition baskets and a 30-18 halftime lead. In the second half, Stark continued to execute very well and end the regular season on a positive note and the No. 9 seed for the D-II tournament. The Bears sneak into the tournament with the No. 13 or No. 14 seed.

Highlights: Branch scored what would be the game-winning goal in the third period, changing the momentum of the game and enabling the Tide to build its lead.

Highlights: The Giants led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 through two, but netted a pair in the third to put away the Falcons.

Highlights:  The Tide won three dual matches at the Windham Super Quad on Saturday, going 28-11 in bouts throughout the course of the day.

Key players: Kearsarge – Evan Lombard (1st 160), Kaleb Mattice (3rd 126), Dylan Selby (4th 145); John Stark – Alex Descoteau (3rd 220), Lukas Boulanger (3rd 182), Joshua Pasek (4th 170), Stephen Johnston (4th 195)

Highlights:  Lombard won three matches by pin to claim the 160-pound title at the 14-team Plymouth Invitational. Spaulding, Vermont, won the meet with 243 points, while hosts Plymouth (185), Mountain Valley, Maine (173), ConVal (98) and Colchester, Vermont, (65) rounded out the top five. Kearsarge scored 63 points, while John Stark tallied 60.5 to finish in the middle of the pack.
