■Interested in playing cards? A weekly card-playing group is forming at The Andover Community Hub. Drop in during Hub Coffee Hour on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. For more information contact the volunteer organizer, Leland Schneider, at (970) 846-4350.

■Free AARP income-tax preparation is available at The Andover Community Hub for any Andover resident, with a special focus on those 50 or older or who have low to moderate income. Call (802) 332-5065 to schedule an appointment. IRS-trained volunteers are available on Wednesdays from Feb. 2 to April 13.

■Ballroom dance classes are beginning Feb.11 from 7 to 8 p.m., continuing for 10 weeks and including a variety of dance styles at The Andover Community Hub. The first class is free and the following weeks are on a drop-in, $10 per person per class. Newcomers welcome at any class, singles also welcome.

■“Quilting 101” is an opportunity to learn basic quilting techniques, taught by experienced local quilters Katherine Stearns and Brenda Lance on Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Andover Community Hub. BOSCAWENRequest absentee ballot

■Visitors entering any town of Boscawen building or confined space, under the town’s authority or control, will be required to wear a mask regardless of illness or vaccination status.

■The Tax Collector and Town Clerk offices are closed on Fridays in the month of February.

■A Public Hearing on the proposed 2022 town budget will be held on Thursday after 6 p.m. at the elementary school gym. Masks are required. The public can also listen to the hearing via Go-To-Meeting but are unable to comment. Join the meeting from your computer, tablet or smart phone at global.gottomeeting.com/join/276832677.

■Absentee ballots for the upcoming Town Meeting on March 8 are available by calling the town offices at (603) 753-9188. They can also be downloaded from the town’s website at townofboscawen.org.

■“A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Bachman will be the topic of the book discussion meeting at the Boscawen Public Library on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

■Yoga classes at the Boscawen Public Library have been suspended until further notice. Bone Builders classes continue to be held on Mondays and Fridays beginning at 9 a.m. A donation of $3 is appreciated.

■The next Library Trustee meeting is on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in the library.

■Beginning Feb. 7, on the first Monday of every month, come in to the library to watch a musical on our big screen at 2 p.m. We had such fun at our first meeting. We will watch “Shall we Dance” with Astaire and Rogers We will have tea and coffee . Bring your own snacks if wanted.

■Keep Calm & Craft On Club! on Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. This craft group has transitioned to a club format where the craft each month is chosen and presented by the members. Members will volunteer to teach crafts and help the craft teachers to pull together materials. This month, Wendy Sanborn leads us in making a refrigerator memo center made from a repurposed picture frame, fabric, magnets and mini-clothespins. ■Story Time: Join us in the Children’s Room every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. for stories, songs, fingerplays and a take-home craft. This program is best suited for children birth to five years old.

■Register for Elkins Public Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. This is a parent-led program that’s easy and fun to do and has such positive results! Stop by the library for more information and to pick up your child’s reading log.

SALISBURYCitizen of the Year

■ Merrimack Valley School District will hold public hearings on a petitioned warrant article received to adopt the provisions of RSA 40:13 (known as Senate Bill 2). The hearings will be held on Feb. 8 (5:30 p.m. at Webster Elementary School), Feb. 9 (5:30 p.m. at Salisbury Elementary School), Feb. 10 (5:30 p.m. at Boscawen Elementary School), Feb. 14 (6:30 p.m. at Merrimack Valley High School), and Feb. 15 (5:30 p.m. at Loudon Elementary School).

■The Salisbury Old Home Day Committee will be accepting nominations for the Citizen of The Year Award at the annual town meeting voting day in March. The committee decided on Jan. 11 that it would hold the ballot voting for Citizen of the Year on the same day as the Annual Town Meeting. We ask that you please be sure to cast your vote for the Citizen of the Year nomination on your way out of the meeting, there will be a separate voting box and signage for this purpose. The winner will be honored at Salisbury’s Old Home Day and ride in the parade on Aug. 13. The person must also be a present citizen of Salisbury. The “Citizen of the Year” award will recognize an individual with these characteristics: a person who continually volunteers their time, dedication and talents to the town and the citizens to make Salisbury a great place to live.

■The Budget Committee will hold a Public Hearing on Monday at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall.

■The Town Office will be closed on Feb. 11.

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall. All are welcome to attend. Please see the town’s webpage for the alternative Zoom link if you cannot make it in person.

■The Planning Board will meet on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Academy Hall.

■The Friends of Forgotten Children NH food pantry has opened the building to its clients. The pantry is open on Thursdays, from 9 to 11 a.m. (last client to check in is at 11), closed for lunch 11:30 a.m. to noon, and reopen for clients from noon to 7 p.m. First time clients should bring proof of residency for each member of the household. This can be your lease, a utility bill, food stamp or other agency approvals, doctor bills. We also have a clothing pantry. ■The Town Clerk is now open to the public for indoor in-person service. Masks are recommended for all those not fully vaccinated. Please continue to observe social distancing and wait until you are either called or the person in front of you leaves the office. The 2022 Dog Tags are in so please feel free to license your pooch a few months early. It is $6.50 for a spayed/neutered pooch, $9 for intact pooches. Seniors (those 65 years and older) get one discounted pooch for $2.

■The library is now open to the public. Open hours are as follows: Monday (10 a.m. to 3), Tuesdays (1 to 7 p.m.), Thursdays (1 to 7 p.m.), and Saturdays (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Pickup and delivery may not be available during story time or trustee meetings due to staffing. Give the Library a call or email, they are happy to work with you to pick out your items and have contactless pickup. Everyone please wear a mask inside the library including those vaccinated (children under five excused).
