The University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team ended its season with a 4-3 overtime loss to Boston College in the opening round of the Hockey East Tournament on Wednesday night at Kelley Rink in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The No. 8 Eagles took a 3-1 lead over the No. 9 Wildcats, but senior forward Tyler Ward completed his hat trick with a pair of goals in the third period to force OT.
UNH had far more opportunities on goal, outshooting the Eagles 47-28, but BC goaltender Eric Dop made 44 saves and Marc McLaughlin scored the game-winning goal to end the Wildcats’ season.
Mike Robinson made 23 saves for UNH and Filip Engaras had two assists.
The Wildcats end the 2021-22 campaign with a 14-19-1 overall record and 8-15-1 mark in Hockey East play.
