At long last, the winter season has reached its major conclusion, highlighted by Saturday’s hockey state championships.

What better way to welcome the offseason by introducing the Monitor’s winter season athletes of the year. Each of these athletes brought something a little special to their respective teams and represented their schools and communities in a positive manner.

For some of them, their winter season wraps up a high school career and for others they’ll enter the spring looking toward another successful season. We’ll have more in depth stories on each athlete in the coming weeks, but for now an awards brief.
