Cable company Breezeline says it has activated its first customers in Concord, bringing cable-TV competition to the first for the first time.

The company, formerly known as Atlantic Broadband, has signed a franchise agreement with the city and has been installing fiber optic cables in Concord since last year. It will compete with Comcast for cable TV and internet, as well as Consolidated Communications for internet.

Breezeline, the U.S. arm of Canadian firm Cogego Communications, operates in 34 other New Hampshire communities.

This will be the first cable TV competition the city has seen since Continental Cablevision started the first Concord service in 1970.
