The N.H. Attorney General’s Office has announced the name of the state trooper who fatally shot a Walpole man last month.

Noah Sanctuary, who has about 14 years of law-enforcement experience, shot Christopher Tkal on Feb. 20, the Attorney General’s Office said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

Tkal, 57, died of multiple gunshot wounds after an encounter with State Police, who were responding to a 911 call for a report of domestic violence at Tkal’s County Road home, The Sentinel reported last month.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, the release says. A report about whether Sanctuary’s use of deadly force was justified is expected after the investigation is complete.
