■The Allenstown Historical Society will meet on April 6 at 6 p.m. at the Suncook Business Park. We are open to the public and will be discussing our Annual History Day Event on April 21.

■The Allenstown Planning Board Notice of Application Submission and Public Hearing to review the site plan of the Allenstown School is on April 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall.

■Allenstown Highway Department – Spring Cleanup and Yard Waste Schedule will be from April 18 to 21. Bag pickup will be every week from April 4 to May 19. Then bag pickup it will only be the first. and third week of each month until Nov. 21.

■St. John the Baptist Monthly Market will be on April 2 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on April 3 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Parish Hall.

CHICHESTERAirborne egg hunt

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on April 5 at 6 p.m. at the town hall, the public is encouraged to attend. The Planning Board will meet at the fire station on April 7. Agenda to be found on the town website or call Kristy at 798-5350.

■The Chichester PTO is excited to be having an Easter Egg Hunt for Chichester children at Carpenter Park on April 9 at 10 a.m. A helicopter will be flying over a designated area and dropping eggs. Tractor hayrides will be making rounds around the park. The Library under the pavilion will be sharing a selection of Easter-themed storytime books. Please bring a container to collect the eggs and the plastic eggs are to be left at the park for future use. Please no dogs or other animals due to the helicopter drop.

■The Library is always presenting interesting programs. This week on April 6 at 5:30 p.m. a class on card stitching will be taught. Sign-ups are required.

■Chichester residents are reminded that the applications for the elderly, blind, and solar exemptions, as well as veterans credits and disability exemptions are due April 15 for property tax credit. Applications are available at the Selectmen’s office.

■The Chichester Planning Board will meet on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station to hear eight applications for review. Applications can be viewed at the town office.

■It’s time for a cemetery spring clean up. The cemetery trustees have set a date for April 4 for the removal of any items you wish to keep.

■The Chichester School Board has announced that Heather Chiavaras will be the chairperson of the Board, Briane Stone will be vice chair. Brenna Preve will be the NH School Board Delegate and serve on the budget advisory committee.

■The Knitters Group will continue to meet at the Library on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. While attendance slowed down in the winter, people are starting to come back in.

■Join us at the Library on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The history behind the Russian invasion of Ukraine is long and complex. In this illustrated talk, Kurk Dorsey, chair of the Department of History at the University of New Hampshire, will delve into the sources of the dispute between Russia on one hand and Ukraine and its allies on the other. Kurk Dorsey has taught U.S. environmental history and U.S. diplomatic history since 1994 at UNH, where he has won a teaching excellence award and a graduate mentoring award. He has published two books, “The Dawn of Conservation Diplomacy” and “Whales and Nations.”

■Movie Matinees on April 6 at 1:30 p.m., “West Side Story.” Love at first sight strikes when young Tony spots Maria at a high school dance in 1957 New York City. Their burgeoning romance helps to fuel the fire between two rival gangs. This new adaptation of the classic story was directed by Steven Spielberg. Rita Moreno, who won an academy award as Maria in the 1961 version of West Side Story, is featured as Valentina, the owner of the store where Tony works.

■The Epsom Central School is holding a Scholastic Book Fair from April 4 to 8.

■The Capital Region Board of Realtors donated a “Care Closet” to the Epsom Central School. This closet offers snack food, toiletries and personal care items to help students with their everyday needs in and out of school. If you would like to donate any items, contact the school. The shelving was donated by the Hearts of Kindness Charity Organization.

■The Pittsfield Parks & Recreation Commission will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 9 at 10 a.m. at Drake Field. We are so glad to finally be able to get out in the warm spring sunshine (hopefully) for our Easter Egg Hunt, bonnet parade and pictures with the Easter Bunny! Meet us by the tennis courts at Drake Field with your basket and your bonnet to join in the fun. The rain date will be April 16.

■The American Legion Peterson-Cram Post 75 will hold its monthly meeting on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.

■The Suncook Valley Rotary Club will meet on April 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pittsfield Historical Society.

■The Suncook Valley Sno Riders will meet on April 6 at 7 p.m. at St. George Auto Body, High Street.

■PMHS students are planning to hold our ever-popular Empty Bowls fundraiser on May 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the PMHS cafeteria. All proceeds are donated to the Pittsfield Food Pantry. We will also be hosting a community pottery workshop day on April 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for community members to make and decorate bowls to be sold at the Empty Bowls dinner. Please consider joining us in the PMHS art room to design a bowl!

■Joy Church is hosting a free Community Breakfast on April 9 at 8:30 a.m. All are welcome.

■On April 5 at the First Congregational Church, the Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Each family is eligible to come for the supplemental diapers once per opening (twice a month). Each family receives one set of diapers/product per child in need, and one package of wipes per family. We generally have newborn through size six diapers, along with pull-ups and overnights. We use the parking lot off Chestnut Street. We will also be accepting donations of diapers and wipes, including open packages. Please call 435-7471 if you have any questions. ■The Pittsfield School Board is currently seeking letters of interest for one seat on the Pittsfield School Board. The term of the open seat will end in March of 2023. Interested residents are requested to submit a letter of interest to the Pittsfield SAU office, located at 23 Oneida St., Unit 1, Pittsfield, NH 03263. ■Pittsfield Youth Workshop (PYW) outh are collecting donations for Old Dogs Go to Helen! This nonprofit supports abandoned senior dogs, so that they can spend their final years living their best life thanks to proper medical care and loving homes. Donations we are looking for include, but are not limited to: blankets, towels, paper towels, dog beds, toys, treats, leashes and collars. Lightly loved items are appreciated and accepted! There will be a main collection box at PYW to drop off donations. ■The Pittsfield Parks and Recreation Commission will be looking for lifeguards this summer. To receive lifeguard certification, you must be 15 years old, but to lifeguard for the Town of Pittsfield you must be 16. The town reimburses 75% of the cost of your training if you work for two summers. Swim New Hampshire and the YMCA both offer courses. If you are looking for a fun outside summer job, are a strong swimmer, and enjoy working with children and adults, you might want to find a lifeguard training course and watch for the job posting coming soon in the Pittsfield Post.

■Joy Church will hold its Good Friday Service on April 16 at 6:30 p.m.

■The First Congregational Church will hold its Palm Sunday Service on April 10 at 10 a.m. Palms will be distributed. A special Maundy Thursday worship service including Holy Communion, commemorating the “Last Supper” of Jesus, will be held on April 14 at 7 p.m. On Easter, April 17, at 7:30 a.m. the customary Sunrise Service will be held in the sanctuary with breakfast immediately following (about 8:15 a.m.) in the church vestry. The traditional Easter worship service will commence at 10 a.m. with special music by the Chancel Choir and the JuBellation Handbell Choir. Come and worship at either service and join us for breakfast! There is parking as well as a wheelchair-accessible entrance at the rear of the church at Chestnut Street.
