Penacook’s Kristie Schoffield (6), a Merrimack Valley High School graduate and student-athlete at Boise State, won the 800-meter run at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Track Championships on Feb. 26 at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Schoffield opened the outdoor track season by winning the 800 at the Aztec Invitational to be named the Mountain West Women's Track Athlete of the Week on March 28. Her time of 2:07.66 was the fastest in the MWC and ranked 20th in the nation. Schoffield won eight state track titles as a runner for MV and won the New England 800-meter title in 2017.
