■The Allenstown Historical Society will hold its Annual History Day on April 21 for the 4th Graders from the Allenstown Elementary School, to teach the students about the history of our towns. We will be open to the public to view our artifacts and photos from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall. This event is free to the public. For more information call (603) 485-4437.

■Rebuilding the Route 28 Bridge over the Suncook River has begun. This project is for the replacement of the bridge that carries NH Rt.28 over the Suncook River between Allenstown and Pembroke so be prepared for delays.

■The Ladies of St. Anne will meet on April 19 in church after the 8:30 a.m. mass in St. John the Baptist Church.

■Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will be held on April 21 at noon at the Suncook Senior Center. This is for all our awesome volunteers with a meal and gifts to say Thank you. Come and enjoy the celebration.

EPSOMEarth Day fun

■The Board of Selectmen will meet Monday, at 6 p.m. at the Town Office Meeting Room.

■Story Times on Tuesdays (1:30 p.m.) and Wednesdays (10 a.m.) at the Library. Join us for stories, songs and a snack. April themes include spring, baby animals, Easter, and Earth Day.

■Children’s Movie on April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Library, “Nick Jr. Spring is Here.” The movie is rated G and snacks and drinks are included. No Story Time.

■The Knitters Group will continue to meet at the Library on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

■Lego Club is back at the Library on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. Join us each Monday for fun! The Library has a large selection of Legos. Snacks and drinks included. All ages are welcome.

■Movie Matinee at the Libary on April 20 at 1:30 p.m., “Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop.”

■On April 18 at 6:30 p.m., Kaitlin will host a “Tech Talks” workshop on 3D printing! We have a 3D printer on loan to us from the State Library. We will spend the evening learning the basics of 3D printing and design. Open to ages 11 to 111. Please call (603) 736-9920 to reserve a spot.

■The Library will be hosting the VNA on April 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This service is open to anyone 65 and older. To schedule an appointment call (603) 224-4093 ext. 85815.

■We are trying to determine if there is some interest in having Cribbage back at the library. If you would be interested in coming in once a week for Cribbage, please email kaitlin.camidge@epsomnh.org or call the Library at (603) 736-9920.

■It is that time of year again! In honor of Earth Day, April 22, the Epsom Conservation Commission is offering Epsom residents who assist with roadside clean-up a little thank you in the form of an Evergreen Sapling. If you wish to participate you must use the blue bags available for the clean-up, which have been donated by the Northeast Resource Recovery Association. The blue bags and gloves are at the Library, the Town Office and the Epsom Highway Department. The seedlings will be available after April 21 at the Town Library, while supplies last. There will be sign-up sheets at the Town Office and the Library if you wish to have a seedling reserved for you. You can also sign up by email. The Commission has coordinated with the Epsom Highway Department to assist with the pickup of the filled bags and items you may find. All you need to do is call or text Scott, our Road Agent, at (603) 545-4302 with the location of your filled blue bags from April 19 to 26, and he will have them picked up. You can also arrange to drop off the bags or items you find, at the Highway Department during business hours. If you would like to separate out cans for a fundraiser, please use white kitchen trash bags. If you find large items, please leave them where you find them and let the Road Agent know about those items as well. If you find needles, do not pick them up. The Fire Department will be available to retrieve them safely, you can call (603) 736-9291.

■Epsom Old Home Weekend Association is looking for volunteers to help with various tasks for our weekend of fun-filled events from Aug. 12 to 13. We will need some adult volunteers as well as any students looking for community service. Before-care is available starting at 7:30 a.m. and after-care is available until 4:30 p.m. for an extra cost. ■Pittsfield Old Home Day is July 23. The theme for the day is “Ocean Waves and Beach days.” Plans are underway and more information will follow.

■Chichester Country Store 2022 Spring Poetry Contest. All are invited to participate in the Contest! Poems should focus on Spring and should be 100 words or less. ■The Suncook Valley Rotary Club will meet on April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Historical Society.

■PMHS students are planning to hold our ever-popular Empty Bowls fundraiser on May 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the PMHS cafeteria. All proceeds are donated to the Pittsfield Food Pantry.

■The Pittsfield Center Development Corporation is looking for volunteers who would be interested in being considered for the Board of Directors and Advisory Board. ■Pittsfield School Spring Athletics update: Softball practices will be moving to Tilton Hill and Baseball practices will be moving to Drake Field. Practices could be adjusted back to indoors at PMHS if we receive any type of wet weather. Please keep an eye on PMHSPanthers.org for adjustments. The following are going to be the time slots for practices: MSG Softball (3 to 4:30 p.m. at Tilton Hill), VG Softball (5 to 7 p.m. at Tilton Hill), MSB Baseball (5:30 to 7 at Drake Field), and VB Baseball (4 to 6 p.m. at Drake Field).

■The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on April 26 at 6:45 p.m. at the Town Hall to accept public comment on proposed revisions to the Waste Water Facility and Industrial Pretreatment Ordinance. The proposed draft ordinance is at the Town Office or online at pittsfieldnh.gov.

■BCEP Recycling Facility has Seasonal Hours! On Thursdays only – extended hours open until 6 p.m. (scales close at 5:45 p.m.), Tuesdays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (scales close at 3:45 p.m.) and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (scales close at 1:45 p.m.).

■Volunteers wanted for committee and commission vacancies. There are opportunities to volunteer for the following committees and commissions. ■The Pittsfield Parks and Recreation Commission will be looking for lifeguards this summer. To receive lifeguard certification, you must be 15 years old, but to be a lifeguard for the Town of Pittsfield you must be 16. The town reimburses 75% of the cost of your training if you work for us for two summers. Swim New Hampshire and the YMCA both offer courses.

■At the First Congregational Church on Easter, April 17 at 7:30 a.m., the customary Sunrise Service will be held in the sanctuary with breakfast immediately following (about 8:15 a.m.) in the church vestry. The traditional Easter worship service will commence at 10 a.m. with special music by the Chancel Choir and the JuBellation Handbell Choir. Come and worship at either service and join us for breakfast! There is parking as well as a wheelchair-accessible entrance at the rear of the church at Chestnut Street. ■The School District’s “Vision of the Learner” is on May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon in the PMHS media center. “The Vision of the Learner” will be available on the district website and paper copies will be available in both the PES and PMHS offices. We hope to see you there.

■The Josiah Carpenter Library will be placing a Bulk order of “The Fun Pass.” The books are $35 each. Cash or check (payable to Town of Pittsfield) accepted. The deadline for orders is May 5. Please stop in at the Library to purchase one.

■The Library has a fun project coming up and is looking for donations of plastic 2-liter bottles and plastic 32-ounce juice bottles as well. If you have some, please consider bringing them to the Library next time you go by. Library hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

■Pittsfield Preschool’s “Stay & Play” on May 20 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. or 12:30 to 2 p.m. Do you have a child that will be three years old by July 31? He or she may be eligible to attend the PES Preschool Program for the 2022 to 2023 school year. Sign up to have your child play in the classroom while you find out more about the preschool program. We have spots in our three-year-old class and our four-year-old class, by appointment only. Appointments are one hour and 30 minutes long.
