The town of Henniker and co-sponsors Edmunds ACE Hardware and The Country Spirit Restaurant plan an homage to the seminal musicianship of Jerry Garcia on what would have been his 80th birthday – Aug. 2 –by presenting New Hampshire’s premier Grateful Dead tribute band: Not Fade Away.
“New Hampshire’s premier tribute band to the Grateful Dead, NFAB is a skilled group of players with decades worth of cumulative gigging experience brought together by a mutual love for the music and culture of the Grateful Dead,” wrote Rob Azevedo previously in the Concord Monitor.
NFAB strives to bring their audiences high-energy, danceable versions of their favorite songs – all performed with a touch of NFA’s own flavor and served complete with soulful vocal harmonies, psychedelic improvisational jams, and a few special surprises mixed in each time they take the stage. Having performed at venues and festivals all over the region, NFAB has gained a “dead-icated” following with whom they continue to celebrate the Grateful Dead’s unique relationship between the music, the culture, the players, and the fans. Each show is a celestial experience, leaving audiences equal parts satiated and longing for more. You know our love will Not Fade Away!
Not only would this have been Garcia’s 80th birthday, Edmunds ACE Hardware is celebrating its 80th year of business in Henniker. Be sure to stop by their table for some special giveaways and to learn more about their upcoming Antique Car Show. Co-sponsor the Country Spirit Restaurant will also have a table at the event selling their famous sausage sandwiches and sodas and raffling off gift certificates.
Stake out your space in Community Park, put down your blanket or beach chairs and prepare for a lively evening in the good company of your friends, neighbors and loved ones. Bring a picnic supper or visit one of Henniker’s local establishments before or after the concert to complete the evening.
The Henniker Summer Music Series is sponsored by the town of Henniker. All concerts take place at the Angela Robinson Bandstand on the grounds of the Community Center on Main Street beginning at 6:30 p.m. (in case of rain, the concert will be held on Wednesday evening).
