■Boscawen Old Home Week starts on Aug. 23 with a variety of events through-out the week.

■Events at Twiggs Gallery include John Porter’s presentation on “History of Agriculture as Told by Barns” on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Kaia String Quartet, an Avaloch Music Farm Performance, will play on Aug. 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Breanna Marie Sherwood, a fiber artist, will show how she creates her unique work on Aug. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. On Aug. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. is the annual Poetry Reading featuring the Percheron Poets with special guest poet Grace Mattern. Readings begin at 1 p.m., pie is served at 2 p.m. and participants can present their own poems during Open Mic starting at 2:30 p.m.

■A full Boscawen Old Home Day Classic will be held at Den Brae on Aug. 25. Grab your running shoes for the Second Annual Elektrisola 5K race on Aug. 26 that starts at the foot of Depot Street. Contact (603) 796-3001 for more information.

■The fabulous Old Home Day Parade opens on Aug. 27 events at 11 a.m. At noon, the action shifts to the Jamie Welch Park where kids can play games, “Touch a Truck,” have their picture drawn by a caricature artist, get an airbrushed tattoo, make their own jewelry and work off their energy in the Balloon Twister. Big Joe the Storyteller and Puppeteer takes the stage at 1:30 p.m., and at 2 p.m. is “Reptiles on the Move” that gives kids a chance to see reptiles up close. A magic show is held at 3:45 p.m. and at 5 p.m., the Fire Department puts on a fabulous demonstration. Live music starts at 6:30 p.m. An over the top Fireworks Display lights up the skies at dusk. Food trucks will be available all afternoon.

■Jeff Abbe, Conservation Commission, will lead a tour of the New Boscawen Town Forest on Aug. 28, starting at the North Main Street entrance at 10 a.m. (across from the former Marshall’s Gun Shop). There are two walk/hike options.

■Have you seen the “Flashy Flock” (life sized cutouts of sheep)? They can be viewed on April Avenue, Park Street, North Main Street, King Street, Queen Street, Water Street, Corn Hill Road, and Weir Road.

■The Boscawen Historical Society will be open for your visit on Aug. 27 and 28 from 2 to 4 p.m.

■Services are held at the Boscawen Congregational Church every Sunday at 10 a.m. They are also lived-streamed on Facebook at 10 a.m.

■On Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Canterbury Shaker Village will host an Artisan Market with craft booths, guided tours, live music, farmers’ market, food, and more.

■Sunfox Farm’s annual Sunflower Bloom Festival opens this weekend, and runs from Aug. 13 to 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m! Come by and enjoy beautiful views of our sunflowers, plus live music and a craft fair on the weekends. Follow signs on West Road and Intervale Road to get to the fields! Admission is $10 on weekends, $8 on weekdays and kids under 10 are free.

■Whitney Road Intersection improvements – new traffic pattern to begin on Aug. 8 on Hoit Road as we enter into the final phase of the project. East and west bound traffic on Hoit Road will approach the Whitney Road/Old Boyce Road intersection in a single lane. The intersection will operate as a single lane roundabout with all approaches entering the roundabout operating under a Yield condition. This will allow the contractor to construct the approach islands to the roundabout and the concrete center island. The work zone will operate under this traffic pattern through the end of the month. Delays are expected and we recommend you seek alternative routes or approach the intersection slowly and with caution.

■Petals in the Pines new “Tale Trail” from Aug. 2 to Sept. 15, every day from 9 am. to 6 pm., Grandma Lisa’s Humming, Buzzing, Chirping Garden by Lisa Doseff. With the help from her grandchildren, Grandma Lisa converts her new suburban home’s yard to a habitat for wildlife. The kids delight in all the new animals visiting her yard–including bees, birds, butterflies and lightning bugs! Written in verse, this story is joyful and inspirational. We will all want a yard like Grandma Lisa’s! For ages newborn to 12 years. Admission is $5 per child; adults and infants are free. Online ticketing is not available. Pay when you arrive and put payment in the cash box on the Farm Stand Porch (you’ll find instructions there). Please enter both the number of adults and kids on our Log Book clipboard. Canterbury residents can reserve a free pass from Elkins Public Library. Please leave your pass in the cash box. Hike at your own risk, and watch for slippery rocks! Sturdy shoes are recommended. The trails are not suitable for strollers; Please leave pets at home. During your visit you may also enjoy our Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom open-play areas, walk our labyrinths, and explore any other marked trails on the property.

■The Town Clerk is now open every Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Please be sure to bring your driver’s license as the clerk is required to see it for all motor vehicle transactions. Vehicle and dog renewals may still be completed online. Vehicle Renewal Registration information was mailed to those who need to renew in September, please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you; this only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or Vehicles of new residents. Online vehicle registration for renewals and dog licensing is now live. See the town’s website salsiburynh.org under the department of the town clerk for that information. WEBSTERGarden visit

■The Webster Gardeners will visit Donna Frost’s garden on Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. Please bring a folding chair and park by the barn. Light refreshments and shade will be available. All are welcome. Drop by or stay for the discussion. Rain or shine.

■On Aug. 20 at 9:50 a.m., the lineup for the Old Home Day parade will be at the Fire/Police Safety building. The parade begins at 10 a.m. led by our Grand Marshall, Paul King. Starting at 11 a.m. there will be games for all ages including a horseshoe tournament, music by Boy Junction and lunch (bring your own). Parade prizes will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. Games continue at 12:45 p.m. (wear your old clothes), and the day ends with a ham and bean supper at the Webster Town Hall and sponsored by the Webster Congregational Church. On Sunday, there will be a church service at 10 a.m.

■The Planning Board will be holding a public hearing on Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grange Hall at Town Hall. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment on the proposed amendments to Webster’s Floodplain Ordinance, Subdivision, and Site Plain regulations. These amendments are made at the recommendation of the New Hampshire Office of Strategic Initiatives Floodplain Division are suggested to keep Webster compliant with the FEMA Flood Insurance Program. ■The Webster Congregational Church will hold a yard sale on Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is open to anyone who would like to sell their goods. The church will be renting tent spaces on the church lawn for $20 each. You may rent as many spaces as you would like, first come first serve. We have folding tables that can be rented for an additional $10, again first come first serve. Everything you bring with you, will leave with you provided it’s not sold.
