■Cruise Night is to be held on Aug. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the ARD School on School Street. This is the first cruise night sponsored by the Allenstown Economic Development Committee. We invite anyone who has a classic car to come and show off your pride and joy.
■Catfish Howl will perform a concert with a festive New Orleans feel. ■The Chichester Town Clerk has received the absentee ballots for the democratic and republican parties for the state primary. Stop or call for an application for a ballot at the town clerk’s office.
■Kudos to Ryan Anthony Deachman for having his original song Eclipsed New Day broadcast on WJYY. Ryan has other songs that can be found on YouTube.
■August is called the Dog Days of Summer! Local rescues Live and Let Live Farm and Darbster Doggy live up to that meaning in another way and have dogs for rescue.
■It’s Old Home Day (OHD) Week. The celebration starts on Aug. 17 with an OHD Ice Cream Social and Classic Car Show starting at 4 p.m. on the lawn of the Hope In Christ Church, 153 Main St. Trophies are awarded. All are welcome to come for a delicious ice cream sundae provided by Frekeys Ice Cream. Aug. 19 will be fun with a town-wide scavenger hunt with registration at 5:30 p.m., a basketball tournament starts at 6:15 p.m. A food truck sponsored by Kioti Tractor will have family-friendly dining options. Come watch the Bean Hole Beans go in the ground at about 6 p.m. A Box Car Building starts at 7 p.m. with s’mores at 8 p.m. Cars the movie begins at dusk. Saturday is full of excitement with a Family Fun run 5K starting at 9 a.m. and Touch a Truck at the Town Shed at 10 a.m. Various activities for the younger kids and adults with pickleball at 10 a.m., a giant water slide at noon and a horseshoe tournament at 3 p.m. plus activities all day. Sunday concludes OHD with an Old Timey Church Service at the Hope in Christ Church on Main Street at 10 a.m.
■The library has a Summer Reading Finale Program and Party on Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. at the town hall. The University of New Hampshire will present a 60-minute program, “Whales & Seals,” with fun facts and hands-on activities. A Mermaid & Pirate Party will follow. Librarian Miss Caroline will have a storytime. All are encouraged to dress as a pirate/mermaid. Pizza and cold drinks provided. Call 798-5613 to register.
■The PTO’s biggest fundraiser is the PTO Raffle Calendar. The sale of the calendar will be in September and prizes are drawn in October.
■The Board of Selectman will meet on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at the town hall. The Zoning Board of Adjustment will hear an application for acreage appeal on Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station. The Heritage Commission will meet on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the historical society building. The Trustee of Trust Fund will have a regular monthly meeting on Aug. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the town hall.
■The Chichester Fire & Rescue have released their incident statistics for the month of July which consisted of 51 calls, their busiest month since January. Calls consisted of two building/grass fires calls, 37 EMS/MV accident calls, three electrical calls, and five miscellaneous calls.
■The Knitting Group at the library will meet on Aug. 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the library. Need an idea for knitting? The school is always in need of mittens during the wintertime.
■Rocky Rest Stables on Towle Road is sponsoring a free equine driving clinic on Aug. 14, starting at 10 a.m. This event is free to attend and demonstrations will be by professional trainers and seasoned amateurs. Wagon rides will be available. This is a great opportunity to visit this newly constructed stable.
■Chichester and Pittsfield will jointly elect two members to the NH House of Representatives in November. On Sept. 13, three Republicans will be on the Republican Primary ballot and three Democrats will be on the Democratic Primary Ballot. Everyone who votes will have to choose two of the three candidates on the ballot. Learn about the candidates. There will be a candidate forum on Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Chichester Town Hall. All candidates will have time to introduce themselves and answer questions. Voters from Pittsfield and Chichester are invited to attend. If you are a registered Republican or Democrat you must take that ballot. If Independent you can choose a ballot. If unsure of your party affiliation call the town clerk and that information is readily available or stop in at the town hall and a copy of the checklist is on file in the lobby.
■The Chichester Town Library is offering “How to Write a Children’s Book.” This will be a simple session class taught by a self-published, local, author and illustrator Carolyn Hughes for children, teens and adults with a limit of five students. All materials will be provided. The event will take place in early September based on interest. Contact the Library ASAP of your interest to attend.
■A second bench has been added to Carpenter Park and placed by the playground area. The bench was sponsored by Pam Binning Smith and completed work done by Alisa Mullen.
■Winding Wicks Farm traveled to Greenfield Indiana to compete in the Youth Sheep Day and recognition was given for being thrid overall with their natural color Sr. Ram and fourth overall in the eve division with their white yearling.

Chichester feels it’s important to keep everyone in the loop with all the happenings during the year in our school activities. ■Chichester Moderator EwenMacKinnon is seeking help with the Sept. 13 State Primary. Ballot Clerks, one Republican and one Democrat, are needed as well as ballot counters. Ballot Clerks hand out the ballots and ballot counters will start at 7 a.m. The moderator is asking all interested to contact Bonnie at the Town Clerks Office.

Bags, stamps, and paint will be provided and children will be taking their custom creation home to use. This program is brought to us by the Children’s Museum of NH.

■Do you or a family you know need diapers and wipes? On Aug. 16 at the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield, the Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. The pantry is open for families to receive supplemental diapers once per opening (twice a month). Each family receives one set of diapers/product per child in need, and one package of wipes per family. We generally have newborn through size six diapers, along with pull-ups and overnights. We use the parking lot off Chestnut Street. We always welcome financial donations, donations of diapers (including open packages) and donations of wipes.
