■August is known for National Thrift Shop Day and Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop on Route 28 has many bargains for going back to school and for the fall season that is fast approaching. The staff is readily available to answer questions and help you find that special item you’re looking for.
■The Chichester Police Department recently issued a public service announcement warning residents of phishing emails. Signs of phishing to watch out for are generic greetings, poor grammar or spelling, requiring an urgent response, a request for personal information, or something too good to be true. If you have any questions about an email contact the PD and they will gladly help you.
■The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on Aug. 31 from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at town hall to register voters, make additions and corrections. No party changes will be accepted before the state primary on Sept 13. The updated voter checklist will be available in the town hall lobby and at the library. The Town Moderator is looking for help on voting day for two ballot clerks and several ballot counters. Moderator Ewen ask those interested to contact town clerk Bonnie Potter at 798-5350 and have your name added to the list.
■The Chichester Fire and Rescue are always heroes but recently they became heroes in Allenstown with a call to assist a patient after the operator of a boom was seriously injured after going into a canal. Loud cheers to our volunteer department.
■Sept. 13 State Primary Absentee ballots are available from the Town Clerks office. COVID statutes on voting have expired and voting will resort back to the 2018 laws. For questions, call the town clerk.
■The back-to-school year is upon Chichester Central School and Pembroke Academy as the first day of school starts on Aug. 29. Sept. 2 and 5 are no school days to celebrate Labor Day weekend. Be sure to stay alert and slow down as students are beside the road waiting for the bus. Be patient as the students enter the bus and at the end of the day are dropped off. Chichester Police are often present at the entrance of the school to slow down the morning traffic and this is appreciated.
■The Planning Board will meet at the fire station community room on Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Planning Board Chairman Stanley Brehn will conduct the meeting.
■Chichester may be a small town but it exhibits exceptional businesses that were recognized as the best in the region. ■The Board of Selectmen recently voted to renew the franchise agreement with Comcast for the upcoming year. $50,491.96 has been accepted from the Natural & Cultural Resources Grant to improve walking trails in town. Zack Boyajian chairman of Parks & Recreation has been authorized by the BOS to administer the grant.
■BCEP Solid Waste District will be closed on Sept. 5 and 6. Please plan accordingly.
■The Chichester Planning Board will meet on Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station to hear applications for a lot line adjustment and subdivision for lots 2/46D and 2/46E., 306/310 Horse Corner Road. If approved, the applications will create seven building lots. The application is available for viewing at the town office.

■The Supervisors of the checklist will be in session for change of party registration between the hours of 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on Aug. 31 at the Epsom Public Library. Additions and corrections to the checklist may be made. It is the last day for voters already registered to change or declare a party affiliation. Only undeclared voters may declare a party and vote on State Primary Election Day. Voters who register subsequent to this date may declare a party when they register. No additions or corrections shall be made to the checklist after this session, until election day. Applicants should bring photo ID, proof of Epsom residency, proof of US Citizenship. Qualified applicants who do not bring proof with them may register if they sign an affidavit attesting to their qualifications.

■Pembroke and Allenstown Old Home Day is Aug. 27. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. beginning on School Street in Allenstown and proceeds down Main Street into Pembroke, along Pleasant Street and down to Memorial Park. After the parade, enjoy the daylong excitement at Memorial Park with entertainment on two stages, the petting zoo, Wildlife Encounter, disk golf, mini golf, a lot of children’s games, food vendors and, of course, the Old Home Day Raffle. The day will end with fireworks at dusk, thanks to Associated Grocers of New England.

■On Aug. 8, the Pittsfield select board had the honor of presenting the Boston Post Cane to Paul Montgomery of Rolling Green Village. He was born May 4, 1923, in Ohio, and at 99 is Pittsfield’s oldest resident. A small ceremony was held at the Rolling Green activity center with many residents attending: Paul’s son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter and seven-year-old great-grandson Ryker, as well as members of the select board and spouses, all of who enjoyed light refreshments, pleasant conversation and a bit of a trip down memory lane.
■The FB Argue Recreation Area closed for the summer on Aug. 23. Thank you to all that used the facility and helped to make for a successful summer season!

■The Primary Election is on Sept. 13 at the Pittsfield Middle High School Gymnasium from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballot applications are available in the Town Clerk’s office, Main Street. Absentee ballots will be mailed upon receipt of the application.
■The Pittsfield Conservation Commission will be holding a Roadside Litter Clean-Up. It will take place on Sept. 17 with a rain date on Sept. 24. It will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon. We welcome individuals, families, businesses, and service organizations to help keep Pittsfield the beautiful place that it is.
■The Victory Workers 4-H group and The Dowboro Farm have created a farm stand at 615 Dowboro Road in Pittsfield! The Young Entrepreneurs Program gave 4-Hers the opportunity to apply for grant money to start our own businesses. The farm stand is a great place for us to be able to sell our products. We have an abundance of homemade items and fresh vegetables for sale. The participants of the program are helping run the farm stand, and we are open Tuesday, and Thursday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
