CHICHESTERTown reports online

■Congratulations to Andrew Chiavaras and Mackenzie Hawkins on being named top returners to the Pembroke Academy sports program. Andrew will be playing on the golf team and Mackenzie will return to the soccer team which had its best season last year in program history.

■The NH State Library and UNH are partnering to make town reports from each town in New Hampshire available online. Thanks to our Chichester Historical Society our town reports dating from 1844 to 2017 have already been digitized. The digitizing process started in 2005 and ended 2018. The project is not a small undertaking but members of the Historical Society are far ahead of other towns showing the dedication of its members. The digitizing town reports are often used by historians, genealogists and a look back to how funds, voted on warrant articles, and town officials who served. Check out ChichesterHistoricalsociety.org to see these town reports.

■Chichester’s Darbster Doggy is looking for animal lovers who would like to have playtime with some puppies. Play times help you and the puppies with exercising and socializing. Contact andrew@darbster.com.

■Outdoor movie night with Minions is coming to the Chichester Library on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. Come see a free movie with free snacks on a 15-foot movie screen.

■Have you seen the new Smokey The Bear sign at the fire station? The sign lets us know the level of fire danger.

■School opened last week but did you know that the Chichester PTO is always open to help our children in various ways? The PTO meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the school.

■Chichester Central School does not have field hockey on site for practice, however, that didn’t stop Kelsey Montambeault or CamdynDespres for being named to the PA Division 11 team. Kelsey is a top returner and Camdyn is a top newcomer.

■Chichester is losing a business and gaining another. Atlantic Traders on Dover Road have sold their property to Campers Inn. Atlantic Traders will be moving to Loudon as Campers Inn will be welcomed to town.

■BCEP Solid Waste District will be closed on Sept. 5 and 6.

■The PTO Back to School BBQ will happen on Sept. 7 at the school. School Board members will be at the grill at 5 p.m. to serve. There will be time for visits to classrooms starting at 5:45 p.m.

■Sept. 13 is State Primary Day. The Town Clerk will be open until 5 p.m. to accept absentee ballots on Sept. 12. Do not leave ballots in the outside dropoff box as the ballots need to be handed in person. If you mail your ballots they must be received by 5 p.m. on Sept. 13 for your ballot to count. Moderator Ewen announced that mask-wearing inside the school will be optional. Voters can be assisted outside to cast their ballot if needed.

■Look closely in our Chichester cruiser and you will see our retired Chief Clarke helping out with the schedule a few times each week until Officer Wood becomes familiar with our town. Welcome to Chichester Officer Wood.

■The school wants parents to be sure to get bus forms turned in, even if your child is a car rider. This lets your child’s teacher and the office know how your child gets to school and home.

■The Chichester Youth Association Soccer game will be starting soon. The U10 group for Grades 3 and 4 starts on Sept. 10 at Carpenter Park at 11 a.m.

■Have a safe and fun Labor Day.
