Ryan Fontaine, a Bow resident and the owner of Fontaine Construction, drives by the old town hall every day. He noticed the roof was in poor condition and needed to be replaced.
He stopped in at town hall to ask about plans to replace the roof and was told other priorities needed to be taken care of first. So he made an offer the town couldn’t refuse – his company would replace the roof at the historic meeting house on Bow Center Road for free.
Fontaine, who has lived in Bow for the past 20 years with his wife and children, owns a company that specializes in remodeling, roofing, and window installation. After a successful year, Fontaine said he was in a good place to do the roof replacement at no cost. He said strongly believes in giving back to the community.
“Roof replacement is part of our business and I offered it to the town because I thought it would be a nice thing to do,” said Fontaine.
Town Manager David Stack said Fontaine’s donation allows Bow to use the funds that were set aside for the roof replacement elsewhere. The roof replacement was expected to cost around $14,000.
“We’re thankful and we do have a lot of good people in town that donate services and their time,” said Stack.
