The next Friday’s Featured Artist at Lakes Region Art Gallery is Donna Nelson. Donna is best known for her acrylic pouring art she creates on both canvas and cradle board. She loves the movement of the paint while the piece is in the creative stage and how it reacts to different additives or paints.
Her sister (who’s also an artist) introduced her to acrylic pouring. Donna’s creative nature was captivated immediately. She found herself wanting to learn new styles and tricks to enhance her art.
Her inspiration comes from nature, often thinking, “how can I use that to evoke an emotion or feeling.” For Donna, it is all about color and the best ways to utilize them in her art.
When asked how she names her abstract art, she states, “I keep the name abstract. I want the art to speak to the collector/customer, to feel what they see”. Each customer is moved to experience the art uniquely.
