■Signups for the town’s holiday food basket program ends on Nov. 30. A voucher program is being used this year at participating Market Baskets. Forms to apply are available at the Town Municipal Offices at 116 N Main Street or on their website at www.townofboscawen.org. Vouchers will be ready for pickup on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon.

■Be sure to stop by the Police Department lobby to see the Christmas for Kids Giving Tree. It is full of gift requests. Choose a tag with a child’s wish, shop, and then return it to us unwrapped with the tag no later than Dec. 9. The Police Department expresses their thanks.

■A Meet and Greet with Santa will be held at the Boscawen Public Library and the Municipal Complex on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. Enjoy the festive atmosphere with Christmas Trees, Christmas stories, letters to Santa, a cup of hot cocoa and much more. Monetary donations are accepted to benefit the Backpack Program.

■If you like to write and enjoy listening to the stories of other writers, check out the Writer’s Workshop that is meeting on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Boscawen Public Library. A facilitator leads the group that meets on the last Monday of each month (except on holidays).

■The Town Municipal Complex will be closing at noon on Nov. 23 and will be closed until Nov. 25.

■The Boscawen Public Library is open from noon to 4 p.m. from Nov. 23 to 25, they will reopen on Nov. 26 at 9 a.m.

■Merrimack Valley Schools, including Boscawen Elementary School, will be closed from Nov. 23 to 25.

■Center Christmas Tree Lighting. Please join us on Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. We will light the tree and join together to sing some carols. This simple and brief event will allow all the kiddos that wish to attend the Polar Express movie night at the Library to get there by 6 p.m. There will be cocoa and snacks, wear your jammies and bring a blanket and pillow.

■The next Elkins Public Library Trustee meeting is on Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in the library.

■Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure (MMM): This month we will be watching a cozy mystery movie and deciding which mystery genre to focus on next. This is a participant driven endeavor around the MMM theme, so come join us at the library on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. to see what we are all about.

■The library will close on Nov. 23 at noon and reopens on Nov. 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

■“Huey Fifield: Memories of a Country Road Agent” on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. This program is presented in cooperation with the Canterbury Historical Society. Come view this special video outlining the life and times of this important Canterbury figure.
