■The Catholic Daughters, Court Pope John Paul II #2602 is sponsoring a Christmas Fair and Cookie Walk on Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, in the church hall. Homemade cookies will be sold by the pound. You can take a chance at the raffle table and listen to Christmas music while shopping and supporting local crafters. A soup luncheon will be provided by the Catholic Daughters. Raffle winners will be pulled at 1 p.m.

■The Concord City Council set a public hearing for Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 37 Green St., Concord, to receive input on establishing a new Penacook Branch Library and Community Center, by appropriating $1.3 million for the acquisition of real estate to be developed at 76 Community Dr. Documents related to the public hearing are available at concordnh.gov. If you wish to provide input but can’t attend the meeting, you can send your comments to cityclerk@concordnh.gov.

■The Penacook Winter Farmers Market is open every Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Riverhill Grange, 32 Horse Hill Rd.

WEST SIDELibrary program

■The Concord Public Library (45 Green St.) is offering a program called “It’s a Wrap” on Dec. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Paint ornaments, wrap presents, have snacks and listen to holiday music. ■The GoodLife Program and Activities (254 N. State St.) is welcoming Chef Joe Gerber from The Birches on De. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Joe will be making various appetizers you can do at home, for the holidays or at any time. They will include sausage stuffed mushrooms, seafood cheesecake, turkey meatballs in a cranberry ginger orange sauce, baked brie with pear and pistachio compote. The cost to attend is $5 and you must register in advance by calling (603) 228-6630.

■Reserve your spot now as space is limited at the Pope Memorial SPCA low-cost vaccinations on Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. An online form must be completed and sent in before the appointment. Bring your cats, dogs and ferrets for rabies vaccination ($20), microchip ($25), kennel cough vaccine ($15), and distemper vaccine ($15). Proof of past rabies vaccination to determine a one or three-year vaccine. Cats must be safely in carriers and dogs on leash. For more information or to reserve your spot, call (603) 856-8756. ■The Friends Program is offering Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 17 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at South Church (27 Pleasant St.). All proceeds benefit the Emergency Family Shelter.

■Downtown Concord holiday music will continue this week. On Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. enjoy holiday music piped through the streets while you enjoy the stores downtown has to offer.

SOUTH ENDAstronaut Santa

■Are you ready to blast off with some Christmas fun on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.? Come to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, 2 Institute Dr., for a chance to visit Astronaut Santa! All are welcome. The cost for ages three to 12 is $9; ages 13 to college is $11; adults are $12; members and kids two and under are free.

■Children ages birth to five years old, and their caregivers, are invited to Mill Brook Family Center, 53 South Curtisville Rd., on Tuesday at 9 a.m. to play, do crafts, have snacks, and more with other local families! This free, educational and fun time will be led by an early childhood teacher.

■Enjoy watching Polar Express on a big screen at Red River Theatre on Saturday at 11 a.m. There will be hot cocoa and other refreshments available to buy. The cost is $5.

■On the first and third Tuesday of each month from 3 to 5 p.m., you can pick up free diapers and wipes for your children at The Children’s Place and Parent Education Center, 27 Burns Ave! Each child may have one package of wipes and one package of diapers. Just pull up to the building. No appointment is needed.

■Join us for this fun class this Wednesday through Feb. 1, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:25 a.m. that offers something for everyone, regardless of your current fitness level. Cardio for Heart Health-Wednesday improves your overall strength, flexibility, and balance through low-impact cardio exercise.
