‘Cut It Out,” Twiggs Gallery’s fall exhibition, showcases the talent of six mixed media artists. The artists explore how the act of cutting out and recombining flat materials can create new spaces and give birth to interesting narratives, juxtapositions, and compositions.
The exhibit opens with an artists’ reception on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Twiggs Gallery located at 254 King Street in Boscawen and runs through Oct. 28.
“I started out by seeking collage artists for this exhibit,” shared gallery director and curator Laura Morrison, “but then I began to expand on the idea of two-dimensional collage and looked for art that is created by cutting flat materials and recombining them into new shapes and forms. So, while we are showing collages, I have also included fiber art, sculpture and installation into the exhibit.”
The participating New England-based artists are Soosen Dunholter, Ania Gilmore, Virgina Mahoney, Grace Mattern, Susan Smereka and Erin Sweeney.
