Book Artist Demo

What: NH Book artist and printmaker Erin Sweeney will be offering a free artist demo at Twiggs Gallery. Meet Erin and view her installation “The Things We Carry” in Twiggs Gallery’s current exhibit, “CUT IT OUT.” She will be demonstrating how to use all kinds of papers to explore a number of one-sheet book art folds – from zines to letterfolds to accordion variations. Participants will leave with an assortment of cool folded objects to re-create later! Twiggs Gallery’s fall exhibition, “CUT IT OUT,” explores how the act of cutting out and recombining flat materials can create new spaces and give birth to interesting narratives, juxtapositions, and compositions. The participating artists are Soosen Dunholter, Ania Gilmore, Virginia Mahoney, Grace Mattern, Susan Smereka and Erin Sweeney.

When: Oct. 7 between 1 and 3.

Open Studios

What: Visit local studios located in the Lake Sunapee Region, view outstanding artwork, and meet the artists who created them. CFA Open Studios gives you access to the work of visual artists living and working in the Lake Sunapee Region. Through Open Studios they hope to broaden the public’s exposure to, and appreciation of, finished works of art as well as the art making process, and raise awareness of the diverse artistic experience available in the Lake Sunapee Region. Open Studios Brochures are available at The New London Inn, Morgan Hill Bookstore, Tatewell Gallery, and at all Artists Studios.

KCPA performance

What: KCPA performs at the Warner Fall Foliage Festival with a free family-friendly event featuring dance company ART IN MOTION and elite singers under the instruction of designated voice teacher Michelle Gosnell. The dancers will perform favorite pieces from the ballet “Alice in Wonderland” and the Variety Show 2023. They will also be offering a free demo class for any audience members who want to participate! Come join in and receive a free class pass to try out a class at the studio conveniently located in Warner.

‘Factory Girls’

What: North Conway native Sean Mahoney and Creighton Irons has written an original musical called “Factory Girls,” which is making its U.S. debut at the University of New Hampshire.  A rock-folk musical with deep roots in Northern New England, “Factory Girls” tells the story of two young New Hampshire women who move to Lowell, Massachusetts in 1841 to work and live in the City of Spindles. As conditions worsen, the women are forced to decide between keeping quiet or fighting back with the voices they have gained through their own revolutionary writings in the internationally known publication, The Lowell Offering. As they navigate the challenges of the factory floor, their aspirations ignite a spark of rebellion that will change their destinies forever. With unforgettable melodies and poignant lyrics, “Factory Girls” celebrates the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
