A Salisbury man is accused of impersonating a police officer after authorities say he contacted a female town resident and told her she was being monitored and her house was being watched.

Jerry Williams, 46, is facing charges of false personation, harassment, stalking, criminal trespassย and loitering/prowling.

State police were called to a Salisbury resident by a woman who said she was getting text messages fromย someone identifying themselves as captain in the State Police.

โ€œThe suspect was able to text particular things that led the female to believe the suspect was currently watching her,โ€ state police said in a statement.ย โ€œThe person messaging this female was not a member of the State Police or any other law enforcement agency.โ€

While receiving the text messages, the woman observedย from her residential security camera an unidentified person around her house and looking in her window. Troopers didnโ€™t locate a man on the property but kept investigating and later identified Williams as their suspect.ย  A judge grantedย an arrest warrant.ย
