On the Monitor’s Opinion page, Rep. John Sellers states “Fundamental truths should be taught in schools.” He then writes about three House bills, HB667, HB662 and HB730, that demand every student listen and view a video on human reproduction, a video about when life “actually” begins and a video about abortion. The abortion video is produced by a pro-life organization called Live Action. The problem with all of this information is that other people believe abortion is an option and have solid scientific facts that challenge assumptions about when life actually begins. As was brought up in testimony this past week, these House bills would also cost a great deal of money. How does this stack up against the opening statement in Seller’s My Turn where he states he is “..dedicated to reducing school funding.” I ask our State legislators to defeat HBs 667, 662 and 730.
