The Pittsfield Fire Department responded to a partial building collapse on Wednesday, leading to a federal investigation into workplace safety.

Emergency crews responded to 343 Tilton Road around 6:30 p.m. following reports of a structural collapse at an active construction site, where a section of the wooden framing had given way.

Peter Pszonowsky, Pittsfield Fire Chief, confirmed that several people sustained injuries but declined to provide additional details due to the ongoing investigation.

Since the collapse happened at an active construction site, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified and is leading the investigation into the cause of the incident.

According to property records, the 6.4-acre site is owned by J&C Real Estate Holdings LLC.
