A 34-year-old Concord man was arrested and hospitalized Tuesday morning after driving his vehicle into a house in Loudon and fleeing the scene.
At 3:29 a.m., the Loudon Police Department received a call from a homeowner on Canterbury Road who reported hearing a nearby crash. Police officers arrived at the scene at 3:35 a.m. to find that a silver Chrysler 300 had gone off the road and crashed into the deck of 7 Ricker Road. A New Hampshire State Police K-9 unit arrived shortly after to assist in searching for the driver, who had fled the scene on foot. Members of the Pittsfield Police Department and the Loudon Fire Department also reported to the scene, according to Loudon Police Chief Dana Flanders.
The driver, later identified as Donald Freese, 34, of Concord, was soon found “within a few hundred feet of the accident,” Flanders said.
Freese was taken into custody and later transported to an area hospital for a serious, non-life-threatening injury. There were no other reported casualties.
According to Loudon Fire Chief Thomas Blanchette, the crash caused damage to the property’s septic system, raised flower beds and garden fence. The scene was cleared by 5:45 a.m., though the call “remained open” until approximately 9:15 a.m., as officers followed up about Freese at the hospital, according to Flanders.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash and any criminal charges against Freese.
