Stop glorifying hate for once

The year my oldest daughter was born there were 26 school shootings. The year my youngest daughter was born there were 37. This year alone we have already seen 47 school shootings but our government appears to only concern themselves with one.

This is evident with unanimous passage of a resolution designating Oct. 14 to be the national day of remembrance for Charlie Kirk, a man who perpetuated hate and divisiveness until his last breath. He was a misogynist and a bigot and that is exactly what he will be remembered for.

I donโ€™t support what happened to Charlie. Charlie supported what happened to Charlie. Every day I send my children off to school is a day that I worry I wonโ€™t be able to see them again. This is the America that Charlie Kirk โ€œfought so hardโ€ for.

I have had enough of this government white washing our history and ignoring the problems we face. Stop memorializing the men who put our children in danger and start passing legislation to protect those children.
