I can hardly believe it’s about to be November. Fall has truly flown by! The trees are growing more bare by the day — stick season is upon us.

Winter’s around the corner, and I’m clinging to every day of sunlight I can find, both literally and metaphorically. Daylight savings time is ending on Sunday, and I find myself repeating the adage “spring forward, fall back” in order to remember which direction we’re headed in. An extra hour of sleep is exactly what’s called for right now!

This week’s recommendations are all geared towards Saturday, November 1, so buckle up for an action-packed day to remember. For however busy your Saturday turns out to be, I hope your Sunday is slow enough to savor.

Here are this week’s recommendations:

Hop into the car on Saturday and drive the Route 3 Art Trail, with fifteen stops at galleries, studios, nurseries and more between Concord and Franklin. If you fill out your raffle passport along the way, you could even win a prize at the end. The day’s adventure runs between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., giving you a chance to explore many awesome spots in the area. Visit route3arttrail.com for a detailed itinerary.

Suncook Valley Rotary Club is hosting its annual Penny Sale at Pittsfield Middle/High on Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. There will be an array of raffle tickets available for purchase and numerous prizes to win! Ticket sheets, which cost anywhere from $5 for one sheet to $20 for six, must be paid for in cash, whereas food can be paid for by credit card or Apple Pay. The money raised will go towards community initiatives, such as Old Home Days, scholarships for high school seniors and nonprofits in the area.

For music fans and movie buffs alike, Red River Theatres has the perfect screening event for you! Come to the 4 p.m. Saturday showSpringsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere and stay afterward to hear from Concord native Warren Zanes, who wrote the book on which the film is based. Fans can also stop at Gibson’s Bookstore from 2:30-3:30 that same day for a meet-and-greet and book signing. Zanes, a bestselling author and Grammy-nominated documentary producer, will also sign books at Red River after his discussion. You’ll have the opportunity to buy his book, “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska,” at both the bookstore and the movie theater.

Add one more stop to your Saturday itinerary: Wine on Main, which is commemorating its third anniversary from 1-4 p.m. The celebration will feature a free wine tasting with giveaways and other treats. I’m willing to bet most of us have never been to a birthday party for a wine store before, so why not change that now!

Enjoy a slow Sunday and recharge for the week!
