“Let them eat cake”

This morning I found myself identifying with Madame Defarge! Really? I admit, I’m a big knitter. Always have been. I find it calming. It’s my go to when I feel antsy and don’t know what to do with myself. I zone out when knitting, sing to my playlist. It’s so Zen….

Unlike Madame, there’s no secret coded hit list within my scarf’s stitches, but is there?
Knock down the east wing, is that a dropped stitch? Deny food benefits to the needy and have the gall to appeal the ruling, oh stitches are too tight. Withhold funds from universities, did I forget to change the color? Suggest nuclear testing be resumed, I pearled where I should have done two knits. Oh no! My scarf is unconsciously becoming the embodiment of my resentment and anger at the constant mean disregard and disrespect for who we are as a nation, led by our demented, personality-disordered president and his sycophants, who we watch blithering daily on some dissociative rant.

I’ll keep knitting … I have to, it’s “my thing.” But if you see me around town with a long ratty looking scarf hanging down around my ankles …
