Amanda Grady Sexton is an advocate to be admired

I have had the pleasure of working alongside, collaborating with and sometimes even sparring with Amanda Grady Sexton for close to two decades at the NH State House. Amanda’s commitment to survivors of sexual and domestic violence, her energy and determination and her professional standards and integrity are all undisputed. I doubt you could find another advocate at the State House who would disagree with my assessment.

The fact that Amanda has been targeted by individuals on social media and in her public role as a city councilor is appalling. I don’t live in Concord, I know very little about the city council’s dynamics, so I have no stake at all in city politics. But I do have a stake in how public policy is developed in our state because I believe our citizens, and especially the most vulnerable among us, deserve to be protected and represented. Removing Amanda from the equation by trying to silence her with untruthful and outrageous claims would do a huge disservice to survivors of sexual and domestic violence, who deserve a voice — and to all of us who believe in and deserve good government.
