A driver was seriously injured in a three-way crash that sent their vehicle into the woods in Tilton.
At 2:26 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, New Hampshire State Police responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 South in Tilton.
At the scene, a preliminary investigation concluded that 76-year-old Dinah Tague, of Kissimmee, Florida, was traveling southbound in a Ford Focus when she struck a Toyota 4Runner, according to state police.
The Toyota’s driver lost control, entering the woods, where a tree fell on the car and trapped the driver inside the heavily damaged vehicle. Tague continued down I-93 southbound before colliding with the rear of a Dodge Ram 1500, sending Tague off the road and into the trees, according to state police.
The Toyota’s driver was successfully removed from the vehicle and transported to Concord Hospital with serious injuries, while Tague was issued a summons for speed, following too closely, a yellow line violation and negligent driving, according to state police.
The injured driver has not been identified.
One I-93 southbound lane was closed for roughly an hour and a half while emergency personnel worked at the scene and the vehicles were towed.
Tilton-Northfield and Sanbornton fire departments assisted troopers at the scene.
