James Mancini

Barre, VT – James (Jim) Mancini, 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at his residential memory care home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 4, 1942, in Barre, Vermont, James was the son of Octavio “Chesty” Mancini and Georgia (Storti) Mancini. He was raised in Barre, attended local schools, and graduated from Spaulding High School with the Class of 1960. He continued his education at the University of Vermont, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1965, and went on to graduate from the Illinois School of Optometry. James also proudly served as a member of the Army Reserve.

Jim established his Optometry practice in Concord NH in 1973. Through his devotion to his calling he had people from all over North America that would travel to Concord for help with their vision. He volunteered for over a decade with the Special Olympics held at UNH, organizing and leading the vision therapy and glasses program for all the athletes with the Concord Lions Club.

In 1983, Jim married Sandra Murray (deceased). Together they made their home in Concord and volunteered on weekends at the local food kitchen.

He is survived by his brother Tom Mancini; his sister Maria McLeod; his nephew Tommy Mancini, his wife Carrie, and their daughters Carly and Sophie; and his stepson Cary W. Swett, his wife Nancy, and their children Faye and Malcolm. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Sandra.

He was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.

A graveside service was held at Hope Cemetery in Barre VT on July 11, 2026.
