Dartmouth Hitchcock clinic in Concord is planning a major expansion of its Pleasant Street facility, adding 36,000 square feet to meet the growing demand for outpatient specialty care.
The addition would increase the size of the building by more than 50%.
Tim Bishop, director of engineering for Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics, told the Concord Planning Board that the expansion will allow the facility to include a new Dartmouth Cancer Center hematology and oncology program featuring a comprehensive cancer care center that brings specialized treatment and support services together in one location.
“This is the first major construction project in 36 years,” he said. “We’re excited to bring these expanded services to the community.”
The plans also call for new diagnostic imaging capabilities, including a mobile imaging dock, as well as the addition of endoscopy procedural services, dedicated recovery space, and an additional clinic.
Located across from Concord Hospital’s main campus, the facility will remain fully operational throughout construction.
The existing 66,000-square-foot building was originally constructed in 1990.
The project will return to the planning board next month for final approval.
