Concord, NH – Lori Ann Cook, daughter of Esther (Decato, Cook) Hayward and William M. Cook Jr., passed away on July 19 at Granite VNA Hospice House after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 63 and will be remembered for meeting every challenge with strength, grace, and resilience.
Born on August 18, 1962 and raised in Penacook and Bow, NH, Lori was a 1980 graduate of Bishop Brady High School. She had a long career in healthcare, beginning at Blue Cross Blue Shield of NH and continuing at Healthsource/Cigna, United Healthcare, Catholic Medical Center, Concord Hospital, and Concord Eye Center. From 2004-2009 Lori lived in Tampa, Florida and was employed at Citrus Healthcare, Wellcare, and Amerigroup.
Lori found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including spending time with family and friends, being out in nature and watching birds, and listening to 1970s and 80s music.
Lori is survived by her brothers: William J. Cook of Concord (former wife Marybeth Fairhurst and their children Kristin and Steven); Christopher E. Hayward of Boscawen (eldest daugther Isabella, and former wife Kelly and daughters Olivia and Aria); Nicholas C. Hayward of Chichester (wife Justine and son Landon); her sister Kellie A. Cook of Maine; and her stepmother Barbara Cook. She was predeceased by her parents and by her grandparents, William M. Cook Sr. and Mary Hallinan Cook, and Ruby Hood Venne and Lloyd Venne; and also by her stepfather Rex A. Hayward.
Memorial services will be held at the Clara B. Perkins Memorial Chapel at Blossom Hill Cemetery on July 30 at 11 AM, with burial immediately after at Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hosptial and the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
