Chris v Karishma
The Monitor’s recent article about campaign contributions reminded me that Chris Pappas has, over the years, accepted more than $820,000 from AIPAC — the American Israel Political Action Committee — more than any other member of our Congressional delegation. No wonder he recently refused to vote on cutting military aid to Israel, even though a majority of us do not support the Trump-Netanyahu war in Iran. And why did he vote yes on the resolution to honor the “life and legacy of Charlie Kirk,” the man who said Martin Luther King was “not a good person” and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a “huge mistake”? Frankly, Pappas has an undistinguished record in Congress.
Karishma Manzur may not have as much cash as Pappas, but she is richer in the values that matter: opposition to the war in Iran and the genocide in Gaza, democracy at home, prioritizing the economic needs of New Hampshire residents. With a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology and a 20 year career in science, she not only has the credentials to oppose the politicization of science and defunding of scientific and medical research, but she will be the first female member of Congress with a Ph.D. in the sciences — another first for New Hampshire.
