Two women were found deceased in Concord over the weekend in unrelated deaths that are not being investigated as suspicious, according to Concord Police.

Late Friday night, police located a 51-year-old woman in her tent along the river near Old Turnpike Road, south of Concord’s transfer station. A friend had gone to check in on the woman, and finding her unresponsive, called Concord Police around 11:20 p.m., according to Chief Barrett Moulton.

On Saturday evening just before 7:00 p.m., a passerby noticed a woman unconscious and unresponsive in a car parked in the Hannaford parking lot, Moulton said.

It appeared that the woman had parked in the area to shop. Firefighters reported that she was deceased upon their arrival at the shopping center on Fort Eddy Road.

An autopsy determined that the woman, a 48-year-old Concord resident, died as the result of a medical episode, the chief said.

The names of both women were withheld on Monday pending notification of their families. Neither death is considered suspicious by Concord Police, though an exact cause in the former case may await the results of a toxicology report, Moulton said.
