George Thoroughgood

Loudon, NH – George W. Thoroughgood Jr. passed away suddenly on August 7, 2026 at the age of 93. He was pre-deceased by his wife Lula Varney Thoroughgood and his son Alan W Thoroughgood. He leaves behind his daughter, Cindy T Headley, His son Jeffrey A Thoroughgood, Daughter Pamela T Dame, son George F Thoroughgood and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A long-time resident of Alton, NH, George grew up there, joined the US Army with service during the Korean war and after. He then worked at many local construction companies operating heavy equipment and drove tractor trailers for Atlas Van lines nationwide hauling furniture, electronics and specialized cargo to include equipment for NASA missions. He also was elected and served at the Alton Road Agent during the 70's and 80's. George was known for his mechanical aptitude, keen sense of direction due to traveling the country and was always ready to lend a helping hand. George was a story teller and was quick to share about his many adventures (good and bad) traveling the country. George had many adventures in his life and we often joked that he had the nine lives of a cat. George will interred at the Veterans cemetery in Boscawen on Sept 17th at 3 pm. A celebration of his life will be held at Joy Church, 55 Barnstead Road, in Pittsfield on 19 September at 11 am with a pot luck lunch to follow.
