EPA attacks New England

The EPA has decided to lift all regulations on smokestack emissions from power plants using fossil fuels. New Hampshire residents should be up in arms about this disgusting decision. Smoke stack emissions from the Midwest and from coal country funnel up into New England, polluting our air, generating more and more asthma in our children, acidifying our lakes and, of course, contributing to our ever-hotter climate. (Remember those glorious New Hampshire summers when air-conditioning was an only sometimes necessity? Remember skiing on natural snow?) This EPA decision reflects a stark choice: in order to aid the fossil fuel industries (even though renewables are now a cheaper and more efficient source of power), we’ll sacrifice the health of millions and destroy numerous other sectors of the economy. This is not government that serves the people; it is government that serves the favored rich.
