Get the facts from Stacey Brown
Sam Evans-Brown’s Sept. 14 letter gets two facts wrong. This is my response and correction.
I did not bring a petition to close the West End Farm Trail. No such petition exists. The Sept. 9 hearing grew out of an abutter’s years-long complaint about the Currier Road parking lot. The Conservation Commission agenda noticed a public hearing on “the discontinuance of a portion of the West End Farm Trail located at 74 Currier Rd.” That notice was the City’s, not a petition from me.
Nor did I cast a lone vote against a donation for cross-country skiing. On June 8, the Council voted on a resolution that included a Ski the Beav donation and a withdrawal from the Recreation Reserve. The withdrawal was $22,050 to install a backflow preventer at Beaver Meadow. I asked why the golf fund could not cover that expense, and I voted no because of the withdrawal, not the donation. The golf course has never contributed to the Recreation Reserve.
Mr. Evans-Brown chairs Ski the Beav, and he did not disclose that affiliation in his letter. A disagreement over a reserve withdrawal is not a war on open space, nor is working with constituents to resolve concerns, as I did with abutters to the Langley Parkway extension.
I am always available to my constituents and residents, and I welcome two-way conversations with anyone who has questions, concerns or suggestions.
