Henniker, NH – Claire Ange Aimée Aucoin, 97, of Henniker NH, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, while surrounded by her family. Born on August 25, 1929, on the family farm in Henniker, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Yvonne Aucoin.
Claire grew up in Henniker and attended Henniker Schools before graduating in 1954 from the Notre Dame School of Nursing in Manchester, NH. After school, she worked at the Notre Dame Hospital and was a member of the Catholic Nurses Association for many years. In 1966, she began missionary work in Cartago, Colombia where she cared for the poor until she was 94 years old.
She is survived by her brothers Raymond, Robert and wife Jan, Albert and wife Lorraine; sisters Dolores, Georgette and husband Bert, Lorraine, Jeannette; daughter Maria and husband Jim; grandchildren Chad, Jacob, Adriana; and co-worker and best friends Adrianna Lujan from Colombia. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Martial, Herve, Richard, Jean-Paul; and sisters Rachel and Pauline.
A visitation will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, October 19, 2026, in the narthex at St. Theresa Church, 158 old West Hopkinton Rd, Henniker, NH, with a Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Cartago Mission. Checks must be made out to the Diocese of Manchester, with Cartago Mission on the memo line, and mailed to the Diocese of Manchester, 153 Ash St, Manchester, NH 03104.
