A Change for the better
In a Oct. 19 editorial, Senator Innis’s husband decries the Democrats, as well as our town boards, using typical tax and spend rhetoric. All the while he ignores the fact that the GOP has enjoyed a Republican government trifecta for the past three election cycles. A period of time when most everyone’s property taxes have exploded. He deliberately misleads the reader stating that our latest strategy promises lower taxes leaving off the qualifying word “property.” It is of course your local property taxes which I, and other Democrats, hope to reduce. His argument for the status quo will inevitably lead to the continuation of higher property taxes and/or the destruction of public education.
At one point he flat out states: “It is not the state’s purview to spend other people’s money to fund your reckless spending”. By which he means spending to keep up with the rising costs of education. A constitutionally mandated requirement the GOP has managed to ignore for over 30 years.
Perhaps coincidentally, an editorial directly adjacent highlights Senator Innis’s devoted efforts to close public schools. As if unaccountable EFAs and tax caps won’t be enough to defund public education.
Finally, the GOP argument is solely focused on money and ignores the need for an educated populace to meet the many challenges sure to arise in the future. Bottom line, instead of cherishing public education, as stated in the NH Constitution, Senator Innis and his ilk despise it. Vote them out!
