Know your Free State-aligned legislators

We who live here all love our country way of life: farming, farmers markets, sharing our gardens, home-made goods with our neighbors, mentoring the children, the strong sense of community. These are also values of the Free State Project which I agree with wholeheartedly. But the concept of “liberty” when taken to the edge of reality is counterproductive, according to me.

For instance when our elected Free State and Free State-aligned legislators follow suggestions from their libertarian overlords who capitalize them, and stubbornly persist in voting in a law (HB 1766) that is detrimental to horses, which allows for abuse without oversight or consequence, and eliminates the trained welfare officers at the Humane Society in the name of less government, that is taking “liberty” too far.

Why? Because humans are often flawed. Whether it is caused by brain changes due to substance abuse, mental illness, lack of knowledge of animal husbandry or lack of empathy, the animal suffers.

You can believe me when I say I will fight for our horses to have laws that protect them from these variations of human owners.

Animals are not your “property” to do with as you wish. Live as free as you like, just please do not vote for legislators who would allow harm to our animals.
