Sununu cannot deliver. Pappas can
Sununu promises to end gridlock in Congress. How? It’s Congressional Republicans, in lockstep with the Trump administration, who are responsible for nothing getting done. It’s Republican House Speaker Johnson who controls agendas, appoints committee chairs, repeatedly sends representatives home to avoid dealing with legislation Trump doesn’t like.
Sununu promises to lower costs because he will “rein in” reckless DC spending. But it’s Republican spending that’s reckless: tax cuts for the wealthy driving the national debt to over $40 trillion; $45 billion for the illegal, unnecessary war in Iran; $75 billion multi-year budget for ICE (80% of whose victims have no criminal record).
Sununu says Chris Pappas’s voting with Democrats 94% of the time is a reason not to elect him. How is that bad? Democrats vary in the details, but in general support policies that provide for a basic social safety net, protect civil rights/equal opportunity, ensure compliance with the Constitution (only Congress can allocate tax dollars, not the President), ensure access to affordable health care, regulate business/industry to protect consumers, maintain strong alliances with other democracies and participate in a rules-based international order.
These are not communism or socialism, as claimed by Republicans, nor are they extreme. They’re what most of us, regardless of party, want our taxes to support. Pappas, not Sununu, is our best choice.
