No bit parts in a democracy

There are no bit parts in a democracy. Every executive, legislator, judge, reporter and voter plays a critical role in safeguarding our democracy. When they fail to protect our democracy, it is up to voters to act. No one else is coming to save us!

Our economy is beset by a war, with no clear exit, spreading across the Mideast, started by a president who won’t consult Congress. On top of spiking diesel prices due to war, after years of Trump tariff chaos, farmers and small businesses have no idea what crazy tariffs he will order overnight. Money-laundering crypto billionaires get pardons if they invest in Trump’s latest grifto-currency. Billionaires pour hundreds of millions of dollars into politicians who will give them tax cuts for self-enriching stock buybacks and job-killing, inflation-igniting AI. Debt to build infrastructure which grows the economy and wages is cancelled for a White House ballroom, Trump arch and hiring ICE agents to deport taxpaying immigrants awaiting hearings.

Meanwhile, Trump orders the Justice Department to pursue Trump’s personal enemies, pulling agents away from hunting down scammers, hackers and spies. We, especially the elderly, suffer the cost. Trump’s pardons to criminals who attacked Congress and Capitol Police go unmentioned.

The Republican response to these mortal attacks on democracy? Embarrassed silence. The “courage” to say “I’ve never met the man”? Don’t vote for anyone who won’t stand up to the chaos president.
